BACKING & BINDING
50cm cotton fabric for binding
170cm wide width backing fabric

NOTES
the star is made from fabric cut on the bias so please bare this in mind when selecting fabric – loose weave linens, vintage linens & cheap cottons are not advisable. Delicate fabric such as Liberty Lawns are only recommended for the more experienced patchworker!
For the background, the design really only works with a plain fabric as the background as a plain colour best hides all the seams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FABRIC
110cm grey fabric for the centre of each square & sashing - We used a silk taffeta to give it a ‘luxurious’ feel but beware it sheds like mad!
20cm of 8 different fabrics - we used a mix of Liberty & Kaffe Fasset fabrics
50cm patterned border fabric
BACKING WADDING & BINDING
45cm cotton binding fabric
140cm cotton or wool wadding (240cm wide)

160cm wadding
NOTE - The backing & wadding will not be required until your quilt top is complete
NOTES
If you are a beginner we recommend that you learn how to sew triangles instead of the curves.
We bought white homespun fabric for the squares, borders & sashings as this helps to keep the cost down! All fabric measurements are based on buying fabric that is 110cm wide. Remember to buy good quality cotton fabric – it cuts better, sews better, is easier to work with & produces much better results!!

NOTES
We bought a ‘charm pack’ of fabric. A Charm Pack is a collection of about 42 pre-cut 5” squares of fabric. It is a very economical way to buy fabric.
The pack we used was Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Solids Charm Pack in the Bright Colour way that we bought from Pink Chalk Fabrics.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FABRIC
30cm 9 different fabrics (9 patterned prints or 5 prints and 4 plains)
1 m border
20cm border corners
BACKING WADDING & BINDING
40cm binding
2m x 1.6m Wadding
2m x 1.6m Backing fabric
NOTE - The backing & wadding will not be required until your quilt top is complete
NOTES
When we made our quilt we used a mix of plains & patterns as it makes it easier to follow what you are doing. The design does still work if you would like to use all patterned fabric but it takes a bit more concentration!

RAGGY QUILT
FABRIC
This is what you need to make a quilt that is 8 squares wide x 8 squares high (approx 1.35cm x 1.35cm). For the back & the front you will need 6 ¾ metres of fabric in total. This will match the front square & back square so the pattern layout is the same on both sides.
FABRIC
You can buy this as either:
- 13 different fabrics at ½ metre each or
- 3 different fabrics at 2 ¼ metres each or
- 6 different fabrics at 1 ¼ metres each (this will give you excess fabric)
WADDING & BINDING
- 13 different fabrics at ½ metre each or
- 3 different fabrics at 2 ¼ metres each or
- 6 different fabrics at 1 ¼ metres each (this will give you excess fabric)
WADDING & BINDING
50cm binding
80cm of wool / cotton wadding at 210cm wide
